Joshua Matta

I’m an independent investment advisor based in Switzerland, registered with ARIF (Association Romande des Intermédiaires Financiers) since 2024. With a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC®) certification from Kaplan Financial in the U.S., I specialize in creating structured, risk-aware investment strategies tailored for Swiss professionals and expats in Zug and across Switzerland. At Carpe Momentum, your investment portfolio remains fully under your name and control, at your own chosen bank. My role is to provide independent, unbiased recommendations and ongoing strategic guidance helping you invest confidently through market cycles.

WHY I DO THIS

I didn't start out in finance. I came to investing the way a lot of people do: badly, and by accident. In 2018, I followed someone else's tip into a leveraged ETF, TQQQ. By December, I'd lost half my money. It wasn't the market that failed me, it was that I'd handed a decision this important to someone else, without understanding what I was actually holding. I made myself a promise that day: this would never happen again. Not because I'd stop investing, but because I'd stop investing blindly. That promise turned into years of study, culminating in the credentials and registration you can see above. Somewhere along the way, I read John Bogle. One line has stayed with me since: "Don't look for the needle in the haystack. Just buy the haystack." I've never picked individual stocks, and I never will. Not because stock-picking can't work for some people but because I've built my entire practice around what I can actually study, measure, and stand behind: diversified, rules-based exposure, not bets on a single outcome. That belief is also why Carpe Momentum exists to serve people starting with as little as CHF/USD/EUR 100,000 a minimum most advisors would consider too small to bother with. I disagree. I believe disciplined investing should start early, and should be available to anyone serious about it, not just the already-wealthy.

THE ALL-TERRAIN PORTFOLIO

Everything I build follows from the same lesson TQQQ taught me: don't bet on a single outcome, because you don't actually know which regime is coming next. The All-Terrain Portfolio takes its structural inspiration from Ray Dalio's "All Weather" logic, real diversification across 15-20 asset classes, built on a careful study of how those assets actually move together, or don't. It won't be the fastest portfolio when markets are roaring. That's not its job. Its job is to protect what you've built when conditions change and conditions always, eventually, change. I'm not trying to predict the next crisis. I'm trying to make sure that whichever one arrives, I'm not the guy explaining to himself, again, why he lost half his money believing in one direction.
